Ten bar chairs, one footprint — designed and built in-house by Newstar

Most bar chairs are bought in and badged. This one was developed by Newstar for commercial interiors where storage is the real constraint: the frame geometry and the shell profile were designed together, so ten chairs nest into a compact column no wider than a single chair.

That matters in Singapore venues that reconfigure through the day — a café that clears its counter seating after lunch, a canteen that needs the floor back for an event, a training room that has to convert to a reception. The chairs leave in one move, without a trolley and without a storage room.

Stacking: ten high, one footprint

Ten chairs stack into the footprint of a single chair, so floor area used for storage drops to almost nothing. Each frame is shaped so the shell of one chair clears the seat and backrest of the one beneath it, which is why the stack stays stable instead of wobbling at ten units.

Welded first, chrome-plated as one unit

The steel frame is welded before plating, and every joint is dressed before it goes into the plating bath. Plating a welded assembly as a single piece is what keeps the finish continuous across the joints — the usual cause of chrome lifting and flaking is plating tubes first and welding afterwards.

Levelling glides on every leg

Each leg ends in a threaded glide that screws in or out, so a chair can be levelled on tiled, polished concrete or slightly uneven floors. No rocking, no folded napkin under a leg, and no four-man table wobbling because one stool sits proud.

Sized for 900 mm counters

The 660 mm seat height matches standard 900 mm café counters, high tables and breakfast bars. Overall height is 1,050 mm, so the chair sits below most counter overhangs and tucks under a 900 mm table without the backrest fouling the underside.

Care and maintenance

Wipe the shell with a damp cloth and a mild detergent; avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners on the chrome. Check the glides every few months and re-level where the floor has settled — a chair that sits flat lasts longer, because the load stays evenly distributed across four legs rather than two.

Frequently asked questions

How many of these bar chairs can be stacked together?
Ten. The frame and shell were profiled so ten chairs nest into a single column the width of one chair, which is the reason this model exists.

What counter height does a 660 mm seat suit?
A 660 mm seat height is the standard pairing for 900 mm counters, breakfast bars and high tables. For 1,050 mm bar-height counters, a taller seat is the correct choice.

Will the chair rock on uneven flooring?
No. Each of the four legs has a threaded levelling glide that can be adjusted individually to take up uneven tile, grout lines and settled concrete.

How much does one chair weigh?
6.1 kg — light enough for one person to move a stack of ten, heavy enough to stay put when someone sits down.

What are the overall dimensions?
1,050 mm high overall, 660 mm seat height, 400 mm seat depth, 420 × 390 mm backrest, and a 480 × 480 mm footprint at the floor.

Is it suitable for commercial use?
It was developed for commercial interiors — cafés, canteens, restaurants and event venues — where chairs are stacked, moved and re-stacked daily.
